About BBR Originals

BBR Originals stands for Broken But Restored. We publish original stories about the experiences that quietly break people, and the long, uneven work of rebuilding afterwards. Our stories cover betrayal in marriage and friendship, family and in-law conflict, childhood wounds, grief, manipulation, and the hard decisions that follow.

What we are trying to do

We want to offer a trusted home for emotionally honest fiction. Readers of any background should be able to find stories that reflect their own struggles, stir real feeling, and invite them to think.

Hurt changes how people behave. Someone who was betrayed may become watchful, generous, cruel or careful. A child who was neglected may grow into an adult who finds it hard to ask for help. We think these connections are worth exploring in fiction, and we try to show the reasons behind people's actions rather than simply condemning or excusing them.

Our commitments

- Realism. Characters should act in ways that follow from their history, desires and fears. Plots should make sense. - Consequences. Harmful behaviour has consequences. We do not excuse abuse, and we do not reward it with a tidy reconciliation. - Varied endings. Some stories end in repair, when repair is earned. Some end in separation, loss or uncertainty. Some end with someone rebuilding their life, with dignity, without the person who hurt them. - Care with sensitive material. About complex endings

Not every wound heals, and not every relationship can be mended. We think a story can be hopeful without being a fairy tale. Restoration sometimes means reconciliation. It can also mean leaving, grieving, setting boundaries, or learning to trust yourself again.

BBR Originals is a fiction publisher. We are not a therapy service, a counselling service, a crisis service or a support group, and nothing on this site is professional advice. If you are struggling, please read our Content warnings page for guidance on finding support.

Faith and belief

Faith is part of the background to this project, but you do not need to share any belief to read BBR Originals. Our stories are not sermons. You may notice themes of hope, resilience and restoration, and we hope you will find them honest and not forced.
